Kathmandu is capital and largest city of Nepal which is sheltered by small mountain. This is a historical center of Nepal. The history of kathmandu is really a history of the newar people,the main inhabitants of kathmandu valley. it originally known as a kantipur, the city of flourished during the malla reign. Initially it was an independent city within the valley but in the 14th century the valley was united under the malla king of bhaktapur city. In 15th century the valley divided once again in to the three independent kingdom of kathmandu, patan and bhaktapur. In 1768 the invasion of the valley by prithvi narayan shah luler of gorkhakingdom then shah dynasty unified Nepal and made the kathmandu a new capital. This is a main center for Nepal visitors. most of pilgrim traveler chose Kathmandu tour.

Pashupatinath temple :-

Pashupatinath temple is not only a temple but also Nepal's most important Hindu temple, stand on the banks of the bagmati river. pashupatinath temple is also known as a shiva temple. on the sub continent and draws devotees from all over the world. there is an entry fee of RS 250 in pashupati area other then Nepali and Indian

Swayambhunath Temple:-

 swayambhunath temle is the most popular temple for the buddhist and instantly recognizable symbols of Nepal which is on the top of a hill west of kathmandu. the entry fee is required for swayambhunath  RS 100 for other then Nepali and Indian nationals people and RS 50 for Indian people

Budhanilkanth:-

Budhanilkanth is another place to visit in kathmandu. God vishnu has many incarnations and in Nepal he often appears as narayan ,the creator of all life. The god who reclines on the cosmic see from his navel grew a lotus and from the lotus came brahma, who in turn created the world. ultimately every thing comes from God vishnu and at budhanilkanth the legend is set in stone. The 5m long image of vishnu as god narayan was probably created in the 7th or 8th century. This is also known as a sleeping vishnu. Non Hindu cant enter the enclosure but there are some unobstructed views from out site the fence surrounding

Kathmandu Durbar Square:-  

Kathmandu's durbar square, ( durbar means palace) was where the city's kings were once crowned and legitimized and from there they ruled. rebuilt over the generations, 17th and 18th centuries. Its easy to spend hours wandering around the Kathmandu durbar square. Many of the building made by wood. it was designated a world heritage monument in 1979. Entry fee in Durbar square is Rs 200 for foreign nationals tourist and Rs 25 for indian national tourist

Bodhnath(boudhanath):-

Buddhanath stupa is the largest stupa in Nepal and also largest stupa in the world. bodhnath located on the eastern side of kathmandu. just north of nepal international airport and 6km from thamel. bodhnath is the religious center for Nepal's considerable population of tibetabns and here are a number of thriving monasteries. entry fee is required for bodhnath RS 100 for foreign nationals people and and Rs 10 for saarc nationals people.

Kumari (Living Goddess):- 

Not only dose Nepal have countless gods, goddess deities, bodhisattvas, avatars and manifestations which are worshipped and revered as statues, image painting and symbols but also has a real living goddess in Nepal known as a kumari Devi. The kumari Devi is a young girl who lives in the building known as the kumari bahal, right beside kathmandu's durbar square.The practice of having a living probably came about during the reign of jaya parkash malla, the last of the malla kings of kathmandu whose reign abruptly ended with the conquest of the valley by prithvi narayan shah in 1768.once chosen as the kumari, the young girl moves into the kumari house with family and makes only a half dozen ceremonial forays into the out site out side world each year. The most spectacular of the occasions is is the September indra jatra festivals. The Kumari's regain end with first period or any serious accidental loss of blood

Narayanhity (Durbar) palace museum:-

Narayanhity palace museum is also one of the best palace to visit in Nepal. It is just 7 km. far from tribhuban international airport and near to the kathmandu main tourist center thamel.Nepal government had declared to change the royal palace as a narayanhity Durbar ( palace) museum on June 15, 2008 after evacution of king gyanendra shah in June 11, 2008. it is opened for public in February 26, 2009. Entrance fee are required to enter here. Rupees 100 for Nepali people, Rupees 20 For Nepali student, Rupees 200 for SAARC country people including chines people and rupees 500 for all other national people.This museum opening hour is morning 11 am to evening 4 pm. Tuesday and Wednesday close.

Dakshinkali Temple :-Dakshinkali is 18 km south of ratnapark, kathmandu. The ancient kalika temple is to the south of the capital which some believe is why it was named dakshinkali ( dakshin means south in Nepali) The Dakshinkali temple dedicated to kali, the fearful form of lord siva's consort, parvati. the myth is that in the 17th century an oracle spoke to king pratap malla in the form of a dream,to establish a temple for the goddess. it was said that no epidemic would befall his subjects. The king deciphered the omen and the temple was erected. Buses are available from kathmandu every day, through they are often crowded. Travel by bicycle or motorbike is interesting but the roads are steep. you should start early because the temple is busiest in the morning . A little uphill from the dakshinkali temple is the mata mandir( The mother temple) dedicated to the mother of dakshinkali. The temple still alluser devotees, as the goddess symbolizes power and prosperity.

Our new land lords asked us to come by yesterday evening. They had an important issue to discus with us: If they could cash in the cheque with our down payment already now? – they need the cash for the down payment for their new appartment behind the Danish Embassy. And of course they can. When signing the contract we had agreed that they could cash in the check when we had the approval for the reconstruction of the house. But after the meeting with our architect the other day we are confident that there won’t be problems.

When we left we got a dinner invitation – we really like them!!
